summary: despite recent flooding and the dangers that come with it, the gov't continues river construction this summer. the central gov't has also said it will take over and speed up construction in 2 south korean provinces which wish to slow down construction-those being South Gyeongsang Province and South Chungcheong Province.

title: " the truth behind the 4 major four rivers project"it is in korean but even if you dont understand ( i'll admit i dont understand all of it, not nearly!) it is still entirely worth watching to see how hard some of the paldang farmers and their supporters are working to save their land. ( one of the protests you see is from febrary 2010 in paldang).

See Morethe Han River (Hyundai Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd.) and Manager of the Project 3 at the Han River (Daelim Industrial Co., Ltd.) for their violation of the Wildlife Protection Act which prohibits Anyone from catching, collecting, releaseing, transporting, trading, damaging, or drying to kill Endangered Wildlife Species. And the committee also sued Ministry of Environment (MoE) and Head of Han River Basic Environmental Office (under the MoE) for their negligence for surveying and protecting the wildlife in the project areas along the Han River, at the same time. Endangered Species Found/ 멸종위기가 발견되었다
현재 정부의 강계획은 4대강 살리기 아니라 오히려 환경파괴입니다. 또 공사가 시작되면서 생물의 다양성이 줄였으며 죽은 단양쑥부쟁이과 꾸구리를 발견되였습니다. 공사구간을 보고나서 마음이 너무 아팠습니다. 4대강 사업은 환경을 위해 정말 좋지 않은 것이라고 믿는다. ( 죽은 단양쑥부쟁이의 사진) http://twitpic.com/1ekdf4

5월 15일에 재가 간 장소 중 하나는 바위늪구비입니다. 여기에서 멸종위기 2급인 단양쑥부쟁이가 살고 있으며 멸종위기 2급인 표범장지뱀도 발견되였으므로 이 선식을 꼭 보호해야 합니다. 아니면 결과가 결국 인간을 헤치게 될 것입니다. 게다가 재가 생물의 다양성을 보존해야 하는 이유는 줄어든다면 회복되기 너무 어렵더군요.
On May 15th, one of the places I visited was BawiNeupGuBi. As the endangered species( classified to be of class 2) aster altaicus and the Korean Tiger lizard were found to be living here, this habiat definitely needs to be protected. Otherwise, it will come back around to harm us as well. I really believe biodiversity needs to be preserved and protected because once it is lost, it is extremely difficult to restore.

Moreover, the goal of the 4 river project is to restore the rivers. But in actuality, it seems to be ruining them, doesn't it?

Regarding biodiversity and environmental health, it is really quite shocking to read the things he says and then compare that to what I saw yesterday at the river, where living creatures are clearly dying and becomoing endangered due to loss of habitat( and then there is the possibiity of eutrophication of river water in the future, which would lead to sever loss of biodiversity)
